Once upon a time, I had a podcast where I got to talk about books I’m reading, and talk with authors, and I always felt like I was a part of something, contributing to the community of books that I loved so much.
That podcast went away in 2021, and since then, my thoughts about the books were mostly trapped in my head. The book part of my life felt incomplete.
I started posting about books on Instagram, and that was good, but there wasn’t much to it. Not a lot of engagement, no real deep discussion. It’s always great to fanboy, but still something was missing.
I had the idea to do this podcast thing because of three people. David James Keaton, Zoje Stage, and Craig Clevenger. All three are authors that I have a ton of love and respect for, and all of them had announced books coming out in 2023. I felt powerless to support them, but I wanted to do something.
That’s when I realized what I draw joy from. It’s not reviewing books and saying what was good or bad about them. It’s sharing in the excitement about this amazing, unlikely event - where an author has taken the seed of an idea, and grown it into a story, and they convinced other people that the story was so great that they will spend a lot of money distributing it to the world.
So here we are. The first episode is now available. There’s still time to pre-order David James Keaton’s upcoming book HEAD CLEANER, and I really encourage you to do so.
Another post is coming soon, which will be more of a pitch about why you should subscribe. So Subscribe and you won’t miss the pitch!
